Bitcoin Price Prediction: How Much Could BTC Be Worth in the Coming Years?

Making a (credible) prediction about Bitcoin's value means starting from one fundamental assumption: no one can know for certain how much BTC will be worth in two, five or ten years.

However, there are models developed by investment firms and analysts that attempt to estimate its future value based on adoption, institutional demand, scarcity, halving events and the supply of Bitcoin available on the market.

The differences between these estimates are enormous. For 2030, for example, predictions range from approximately $300,000 in ARK Invest's most conservative scenario to $1.5 million in its most optimistic scenario. Let's therefore examine the verifiable Bitcoin price predictions for the coming years and, above all, the assumptions on which they are based.

Table of contents

Bitcoin Price Prediction: Why Is It So Difficult to Estimate Its Value?

There is no single Bitcoin price prediction because each model assigns a different weight to the variables that could determine its value. The main factors include:

  • Adoption growth;

  • Institutional investor demand;

  • Inflows into spot ETFs;

  • The amount of BTC available on the market;

  • Macroeconomic conditions;

  • Regulation;

  • The rate at which new Bitcoin is issued.

Even a prediction developed by a major financial institution therefore remains a scenario, not a certainty.

A concrete example comes from Standard Chartered. In February 2025, the bank forecast a Bitcoin price of $500,000 by 2028. By December of the same year, it had completely revised its timeline, moving that target to 2030 and lowering its 2028 forecast to $300,000. The projected price remained realistic within the bank's scenario, but the path to reaching it had changed. And this is probably the best way to understand how to interpret all the predictions that follow.

How Much Could Bitcoin Be Worth in 2028?

For 2028, we can compare two recent models.

CoinShares: Approximately $248,000

In January 2026, CoinShares updated its valuation model based on Bitcoin adoption as a global savings asset. The model takes into account several factors, including:

  • Growth in the number of holders;

  • Share of disposable income allocated to BTC;

  • Capital inflows;

  • Impact of inflows on market capitalization;

  • Programmed supply inflation.

The updated model indicates a value of approximately $248,000 by the end of 2028, compared with the $133,000 estimated in the previous version of the model. CoinShares also projects approximately $317,000 for 2029, based on assumptions the firm itself describes as conservative.

Standard Chartered: $300,000

Standard Chartered's updated outlook indicates the following:

  • 2026: $150.000

  • 2027: $225.000

  • 2028: $300.000

  • 2029: $400.000

  • 2030: $500.000

The revision is significant because the bank had previously forecast Bitcoin reaching $500,000 as early as 2028. Slower Bitcoin purchases by corporate treasury holders and sustained ETF inflows falling short of expectations led analyst Geoffrey Kendrick to revise the timeline.

Another Bitcoin Halving Will Take Place in 2028

2028 will also be important for another reason. The next Bitcoin halving is estimated to occur at block 1,050,000. The block reward is expected to decrease from the current 3.125 BTC to 1.5625 BTC.

Halving occurs every 210,000 blocks and progressively reduces the issuance of new Bitcoin. The protocol also establishes a maximum supply of 21 million BTC. This does not mean that the price will necessarily increase after every halving. Rather, it means that, all other conditions being equal, the amount of new Bitcoin produced by miners continues to decrease.

The relationship between new supply and future demand is therefore one of the key elements in many valuation models.

Bitcoin Price Prediction for 2030: From $300,000 to $1.5 Million

The further we look into the future, the greater the uncertainty. The forecasts for 2030 clearly illustrate this.

* ARK Invest published three different scenarios for 2030 in April 2025: approximately $300,000 in the bear case, $710,000 in the base case, and $1.5 million in the bull case. However, ARK itself emphasizes that these values depend on the assumptions made about potential markets and their respective penetration rates. If these conditions do not materialize, the targets may not be reached.

Why Does ARK's Forecast Reach $1.5 Million?

The model does not simply project historical price trends. ARK evaluates several potential use cases and sources of future demand, including institutional allocation and Bitcoin's role as a possible digital alternative to traditional stores of value. This is why it is important not to focus solely on the highest figure: $1.5 million represents the model's bull case, not ARK's only forecast.

Why Are Bitcoin Price Predictions So Different?

The gap between $248,000 in 2028 and over $1 million a few years later may seem enormous, but it mainly depends on how each model is constructed.

→ CoinShares starts with global adoption and savings potentially allocated to Bitcoin. Its updated model estimates approximately 560 million holders in 2025 and assumes that less than 1% of global disposable income is allocated to BTC annually.

→ ARK, on the other hand, works with different penetration scenarios across its potential target markets.

→ Standard Chartered focuses more heavily on the growth of institutional access and, in its most recent revision, considers ETFs a central component of future demand.

These are therefore different models designed to answer different questions.

What Could Make These Predictions Wrong?

The models themselves acknowledge numerous risks.

→ CoinShares cites, among other factors, slower-than-expected adoption growth, regulatory interventions in major markets, and a prolonged global recession that could reduce risk appetite.

→ ARK explicitly emphasizes that its targets may not materialize if the assumed potential markets or penetration rates are not achieved.

→ The revision by Standard Chartered provides a practical example: a forecast can change dramatically when market conditions change.

Can Bitcoin Reach $1 Million?

It is possible to find models that include this scenario, but there is no consensus that Bitcoin will definitely reach that figure. ARK Invest exceeds the $1 million threshold only in its bull case, which projects approximately $1.5 million by 2030. In the base case, the estimate falls to around $710,000, while the bear case projects approximately $300,000.

The difference between these three figures is perhaps more important than the figures themselves: it shows how much the outcome depends on the underlying assumptions.

Bitcoin, Price and Mining: Two Closely Connected Variables

For those involved in mining, Bitcoin's price performance is important because it affects the economic value of the BTC produced. However, it is not the only variable. Other factors that matter in mining include:

  • Network difficulty;

  • Block reward;

  • ASIC efficiency;

  • Energy costs;

  • Uptime;

  • Operating costs.

The next halving, for example, will reduce the block reward to 1.5625 BTC. For this reason, at BCrypto, we approach mining as an activity that requires efficiency and infrastructure management, rather than simply betting on a future increase in Bitcoin's price.

How Much Could Bitcoin Be Worth in the Future?

The predictions analyzed show a very wide range. For 2028, CoinShares estimates approximately $248,000, while Standard Chartered forecasts $300,000. For 2030, Standard Chartered projects $500,000, while ARK presents scenarios ranging from approximately $300,000 to $1.5 million.

None of these figures should be interpreted as a guaranteed outcome. They are scenarios based on the potential evolution of demand, adoption, supply and institutional access.

At BCrypto, we therefore prefer to look beyond a single price prediction: we focus on Bitcoin production through dedicated mining hardware and infrastructure.

FAQ

What Is the Bitcoin Price Prediction for 2030?

Standard Chartered forecasts $500,000 by 2030. ARK Invest, on the other hand, projects approximately $300,000 in its bear case, $710,000 in its base case, and $1.5 million in its bull case. These are scenarios, not guaranteed values.

There is no single prediction. Available models produce different results depending on their assumptions about adoption, institutional demand, supply, halving events, and macroeconomic conditions.

CoinShares' model, updated in 2026, projects approximately $248,000 by the end of 2028, while Standard Chartered's updated outlook forecasts $300,000.
